Desde la lectura de esta obra, se propone analizar su vigencia y posibles lecturas en el contexto actual colombiano, y destacar a éste autor como un autor importante en la historia de la literatura latinoamericana, el cuál, desde su narrativa logra transgredir las fronteras y el tiempo; de esta manera en el marco de esta investigación, autores como Angel Rama (2008), William Rowe (1979), Alexis Rodríguez (2011) o Alejo Carpentier(1974), brindan un horizonte hacia la importancia y el impacto de la obra de Arguedas en las letras latinoamericanas. Por otro lado, también se resalta a partir del trato que le da éste autor a su literatura, una reflexión entorno a la enseñanza de la literatura, la lectura y la escritura en el aula.This research focuses in the analysis of the literature work “Los ríos profundos” (The Deep Rivers) by the writer, anthropologist, ethnologist and professor José María Arguedas (1911-1969). In this way and from the reading of the work, it is proposed to analyze the validity and possible readings in the current Colombian context, and to highlight this author as an important author in the history of Latin American literature, which, from his narrative manages to transgress borders and time; in this way, in the framework of this research, authors such as Angel Rama (2008), William Rowe (1979), Alexis Rodríguez (2011) or Alejo Carpentier (1974), provide an horizon towards the importance and impact of Arguedas' work in Latin American literature.
