Colombia como muchos países de la región, se enfrenta a los retos de la globalización y el libre comercio, en especial luego de firmar durante los últimos años acuerdos comerciales que demandan un alto nivel de competitividad, en sectores vitales de la economía nacional. Por tal razón los cultivadores y productores agropecuarios en el país han identificado la necesidad de tecnificar sus procesos productivos y reconocen que la única manera de generar condiciones favorables para el aprovechamiento de los nuevos mercados, es realizando importantes inversiones en ciencia y tecnología. Es aquí donde las tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones (TIC) juegan un papel fundamental; la integración de tecnología a la agricultura, ganadería, acuicultura y en general los procesos de explotación de los recursos naturales, se convierte en un factor determinante de éxito, evolución y sostenibilidad del sector. Los beneficios de las TIC se han hecho más evidentes con la llegada de tecnologías que permiten movilidad, en la última década la investigación en computación móvil ha propiciado el desarrollo de sistemas inalámbricos de comunicaciones con mejor rendimiento y calidad de servicio, así como la construcción de plataformas de software móvil más amigable, económico y adaptable. Por lo anterior se plantea el desarrollo de un sistema de información que utilice los más recientes avances en computación móvil para la gestión del proceso de comercialización de ganado denominado Subasta Ganadera, con la hipótesis de que permitirá lograr un proceso más eficiente, de calidad y que permita satisfacer las necesidades de clientes cada vez más exigentes, que esperan encontrar los beneficios de la tecnología en todos los ámbitos de su vida.The present work wants to expose the way in which technology can boost the development of the country's livestock sector, from the modernization of its marketing processes, making use of mobile applications. Colombia, like many countries in the region, faces the challenges of globalization and free trade, especially after signing trade agreements that demand a high level of competitiveness in vital sectors of the national economy. For this reason the farmers and agricultural producers in the country have identified the need to technify their production processes and recognize that the only way to generate favorable conditions for the use of new markets is by making important investments in science and technology. It is here that information and communication technologies (ICTs) play a fundamental role; the integration of technology into agriculture, livestock, aquaculture and in general the processes of exploitation of natural resources, becomes a determining factor of success, evolution and sustainability of the sector. The benefits of ICT have become more evident with the arrival of technologies that allow mobility, in the last decade research in mobile computing has led to the development of wireless communications systems with better performance and quality of service, as well as the construction of more friendly, economical and adaptable mobile software platforms.
