Para poder coordinar de forma idónea todas sus labores, el IGAC internamente se divide en áreas estratégicas de trabajo, las cuales se ocupan de un sector de estudio en específico. El Git de Gestión Geodésica, perteneciente a la subdirección de geografía y cartografía se encarga de “ ejecutar el diseño, establecimiento y administración de los Sistemas Nacionales de Referencia Geodésico”, una función indispensable para la geografía del país ,por lo tanto es necesario y en extremo importante el llevar un buen control sobre todos los trabajos llevados acabo allí.
