Por medio, de una investigación de enfoque cualitativo, se evidencia la falta y desconocimiento de la gestión documental en la facultad, la deficiencia de una buena gestión archivística ha conllevado una gran pérdida de valiosos archivos administrativos e históricos, afectando así la memoria institucional. Por tanto, en esta investigación se documentan y se arman los hallazgos encontrados como la historia y momento de fundación de la facultad, así como también el nacimiento de cada proyecto curricular y la forma en que cada una gestiona la información a largo del tiempo, de esta manera se identifica los periodos históricos más importantes al momento de creación y evolución y periodización de la gestión documental. Es por ello que este estudio resalta la necesidad urgente de implementar un sistema de gestión documental, capacitar al personal y adoptar las nuevas tecnologías de la información para preservar de manera íntegra y eficiente el legado de la facultad, además, propone soluciones para mejorar la organización documental y fortalecer la cultura archivística dentro de la institución, asegurando que las futuras generaciones comprendan y valoren su historia.This work seeks to study, analyze and understand the institutional history of the Faculty of Science and Education of Francisco José de Caldas University, with the study of its administrative, organic and functional evolution during these 50 years of life. Through a qualitative research approach, the lack and ignorance of documentary management in the Faculty is evident; the lack of good archival management has led to a great loss of valuable administrative and historical archives, thus affecting the institutional memory. Therefore, this research documents and summarizes the results, such as the history and the moment of foundation of the Faculty, as well as the birth of each curricular project and the way in which each one manages information over time, in this way identifying the most important historical periods at the time of creation and evolution and periodization of documentary management.
