Sin embargo, figuras respetadas como el Padre Socio han traducido los textos sagrados a lenguas vernáculas con la aprobación de la Silla Apostólica, argumentando que estas prohibiciones son cuestiones de economía y prudencia, no absolutas ni relacionadas con la santidad o utilidad de los textos. El celoso párroco de Facatativá ha acusado a la Sociedad Bíblica de intentar hacer la guerra a la Iglesia, seduciendo y engañando con apariencia de bien, comparándolos con Lutero.
