Tras este hecho, se ha retomado el análisis de las Crónicas de Indias, consideradas fuentes indispensables para conocer e interpretar la naturaleza de dichos acontecimientos. Sin embargo, poco se ha reflexionado sobre el hecho de que estas obras, escritas por los europeos, contribuyeron con la creación y consolidación del discurso del poder, fundamental en la constitución y representación del mundo colonial instaurado por Occidente desde 1492. Este texto se centra en las Crónicas de Indias, como una modalidad de discurso, y analiza los mecanismos y estrategias discursivas que terminaron instalando una representación negativa de los indígenas como idólatras, bárbaros y salvajes, y justificaron la inferiorización, explotación y exterminio de los pueblos prehispánicos.With the fifth centenary of the discovery of America in 1992, the reinterpretation of the events related to the conquest and colonization of the American continent became significant. Following this event, the analysis of the Chronicles of the Indies, considered indispensable sources for understanding and interpreting the nature of these events, has been revived. However, little reflection has been given to the fact that these works, written by Europeans, contributed to the creation and consolidation of the discourse of power, fundamental to the constitution and representation of the colonial world established by the West since 1492.
