Este es el primer registro del género para el área continental, ya que hasta la fecha se encuentra descrita solo para Cuba. Esta familia se caracteriza por ser de tamaños pequeños y hábitos crípticos, pasando fácilmente desapercibidas, por lo cual los estudios en este grupo son incipientes, reflejándose en una distribución actual muy subestimada.A new species of the genus Fageicera (Araneae: Ochyroceratidae) is described for Colombia, the species was found in high Andean forests in the center of the country, specifically in the Matarredonda Ecological Park, located between the Choachi, Ubaque municipalities and the rural area of Bogota D.C. This is the first record of this genus in South American previously known only for Cuba.
