En esta última perspectiva, ante la creciente penetración de Internet - subsistiendo amplias brechas digitales y económicas en Países en Desarrollo-, la investigación y desarrollo de la comunidad científica y productiva ha promovido la convergencia e integración de las innovaciones tecnológicas hacia la consolidación de la vida natural y artificial, adicionando inteligencia de naturaleza Electrónica, del Control y la Automatización, y de infraestructura y servicios de Telecomunicaciones para refinar ambientes que requiere de eficaz y eficiente interacción humana. En esta ocasión, para el CIECT XVIII, acudieron a la convocatoria 15 conferencistas centrales de alto nivel: ocho internacionales, incluyendo la conferencia Inaugural que se compartió con México; y siete conferencistas nacionales. Todos presenciales en la ciudad de Bogotá. Finalmente, al CIECT XVIII se allegaron cerca de 120 ponencias de las que se seleccionaron cerca del 50% de ellas bajo evaluación por tres pares en la modalidad doble ciego. Esto incluyó una cifra récord de participación de cerca de 200 autores de Ecuador, Argentina, México, España y Colombia.
