This text aims to problematize the notion that nowadays museums should focus on ideas and experiences, leaving aside the collections that they treasured for years. It will seek to show that the object is inevitably tied to memory, emotions and the ability of visitors to have a meaningful museum experience. The analysis will be made by collecting theoretical postures about the object and through the case study of the exhibition "Velorios y santos vivos. Black communities, Afro-Colombian raizales and palenqueras "carried out in the National Museum of Colombia in 2008.La crítica al objeto-fetiche en los museos ha creado una aparente dicotomía entre lo tangible y lo intangible. Este texto pretende problematizar la noción de que hoy en día los museos deben centrarse en las ideas y las experiencias, dejando de lado las colecciones que por años atesoraron. Se buscará mostrar que el objeto está inevitablemente atado a la memoria, a las emociones y a la capacidad que tienen los visitantes para tener una experiencia museal significativa.
