Puya santosii es una especie endémica de la región Altoandina de Colombia que pertenece a la Familia Bromeliaceae, donde la mayoría de plantas del género Puya habitan en páramos. La colecta del material vegetal se hizo en el Parque Ecológico Matarredonda ubicado en el Municipio de Choachí- Cundinamarca. A partir de las muestras colectadas, en el laboratorio se realizó una descripción organográfica detallada de la planta y, además de la identificación de los tejidos internos que se encuentran tallo, raíz, hoja; para tal fin, se emplearon protocolos histológicos en base a lo propuesto por Sandoval (2005). Por otra parte, está investigación nació de la necesidad por conocer la morfología de Puya santossi, puesto que se encuentran pocos trabajos que realicen descripciones de la anatomía interna y externa de la planta. Por otra parte, el estado de conservación y la categoría de amenaza de esta especie, según UICN, es clasificada como casi amenazada (NT) es decir, una especie próxima a ser categorizada como vulnerable (Betancour & García, 2006) por tanto, este trabajo es un aporte al conocimiento y conservación de la flora del país en especial en ecosistemas de páramoThis study has as principal aim realize a morphologic description of the vegetative organs of the Puya santosii, concerning a descriptive investigation. Puya santosii is an endemic species of the Altoandina Region of Colombia that belongs to the Family Bromeliaceae, where the majority of plants of the kind Puya live in moors. The collection of the vegetable material was done in the Ecological Park Matarredonda located in the Municipality of Choachí - Cundinamarca.
