No obstante, este camino no ha sido fácil y todavía no es suficiente para que sean reconocidas como igual de importantes a ciencias como matemática, física y química. Este trabajo pertenece a las investigaciones que están dispuestas a fortalecer el papel de la educación artística como una fuente apropiada de aprendizaje e interpretación del mundo; bajo esta premisa, específicamente se adentra en la función que aquélla puede cumplir con respecto a la formación ciudadana. Con esto en mente, realiza un estudio de caso con la comunidad educativa compuesta por estudiantes de grado once, directivas y profesores de artes plásticas del Colegio Veintiún Ángeles I.E.D. para conocer cómo se percibe y se educa en dicha área, y en qué sentido se considera esta puede incidir en la construcción de individuos con habilidades sociales tales como la solidaridad y el respeto por la diferencia. A partir de los resultados obtenidos, concluye con el planteamiento de lineamientos que a manera de recomendación pretenden apoyar la labor docente con miras a aprovechar la educación artística para la formación de ciudadanos.The arts have settled as a field of study and source of knowledge, so they have earned the space in school curricula and education laws of countries. However, this road has not been easy and still is not enough to be recognized as equally important to science as mathematics, physics and chemistry. This work belongs to the investigations that are willing to strengthen the role of arts education as an appropriate source of learning and interpreting the world; under this premise, specifically it delves into the role that it can play regarding citizenship education. With this in mind, it makes a case study with an academic community composed of eleventh grade students, directors and teachers of plastic arts in “Colegio Veintiún Ángeles I.E.D.” to know how the artistic education is perceived and in what sense is considered it can affect the construction of individuals with social skills such as solidarity and respect for difference.
