Abstract

In the following work, reflections are evident concerning the artistic work titled "THE MEMORY OF LIGHT," which seeks to recognize light as a possible space to inquire into the individual memories that make up the collective memory of my family (my mother and my father). This inquiry (and subsequent understanding) is translated into my artistic work, transforming it into the possibility of viewing my family as a source of inspiration for my creative process. This source of inspiration encompasses two aspects: the formal (what occurs when I depict my parents in my creative work) and the narrative (the standpoint I have regarding my family and their memory). Examining family interpersonal relationships against the grain is also taking on the role of an observer in relation to the factors that have shaped me, based on the circumstances that shaped my parents. Thus, my mother and father are the core of this project; they are the foundation of my pictorial work, as their memory is the place where I want to inquire, open fissures, fictionalize, and understand in order to subsequently materialize in my artistic work, not only from its formal aspect but also from the discursive standpoint of my artistic creation. Therefore, "THE MEMORY OF LIGHT" is an analysis of my artistic techniques in the context of and in dialogue with the exploration of the individual and collective memory of my family roots, with the aim of understanding memory and fictionalizing it, giving rise to my visual artwork.
