Abstract

The radio program explores the duality of the celebrations that occur in Valledupar during the last week of April. On the one hand, the Vallenata Legend Festival is celebrated, a musical event that has gained international fame. On the other hand, the religious festival of the Virgin of the Rosary is commemorated, a tradition rooted in the history of the region.Despite sharing the same name and dates, both celebrations have different origins and purposes. The musical festival emerged in the mid-20th century as an initiative to promote Vallenata culture, while the religious festival has roots in the 16th century and commemorates a miraculous event.The program highlights the importance of preserving both traditions and seeks to raise awareness among the audience about the cultural wealth of Valledupar. The need to keep the legend of the Virgin of the Rosary alive is emphasized and citizen participation in both celebrations is invited.
