Chidren's literature: an approximation to its concept, its limits and possibilities

| dc.description | In current societies, the presence of "children's literature" as a cultural and marketing product is undoubtedly growing. In fact, there is a large catalogue of titles, book stores and specialized publishing companies, awards, authors, etc. However, the debate over its nature, defining features, wors, or its role in the creation of readers is an ongoing debate in the scientific panorama. In addition, there are many possible stances towards these issues, sometimes irreconcilable stances, depending on the perspective. Nonetheless, the presence of these works is increasing in homes, and especially in schools, in an effort to find motivating and adequate texts able to bring kids closer to reading and literature. In this paper we briefly revise the state of the art with respect to the concept and limits of children literature. Then, we present and discuss the need to redirect the presence of literature in school education in both: methodology and establishement of the canon. | en-US |
| dc.description | La presencia de la Ilamada "literatura infantil" como producto cultural y de mercado en las sociedades actuales es, sin duda, cada vez más abundante. Existen, en relación con ella, un numeroso catálogo de títulos, librerías, editoriales especializadas, premios y autores, entre otros, y, sin embargo, el debate en torno a su naturaleza, sus rasgos definitorios, las obras que la componen o su papel en la creación de lectores sigue sin estar cerrado en el ámbito científico. Por otro lado, son muchas, y a veces irreconciliables, las posturas posibles en estos aspectos según la perspectiva adoptada, pero lo cierto es que estas obras cada vez están más presentes en los hogares y, sobre todo, en las escuelas, en un intento más de búsqueda de textos motivadores y adecuados que acerquen a los niños a la lectura y a la literatura. En este artículo, se pretende, en un primer momento, revisar sucintamente el estado de la cuestión con respecto al concepto y los límites de la literatura infantil para, a continuación, exponer y argumentar la necesidad de reorientar la presencia de la literatura en la educación escolar tanto en lo metodológico como en el mismo establecimiento del canon. | es-ES |
