Resumen
The "Incredible Homopater" project presents a critique of the Catholic Church's handling of power through a graphic novel and three-dimensional objects. The work transforms Pope John Paul II into a superhero, satirizing the economic exploitation of believers through faith. Influenced by pop culture and American comics, the project addresses themes of advertising, politics, and religion.
León Sánchez uses comics as artistic semantics, inspired by Superman, to create a superhero who fights evil with Catholic relics. Despite facing censorship and production costs, the comic defends artistic freedom and seeks to expand the audience of galleries and museums, utilizing an intertextual language accessible to diverse audiences. The project includes objects such as t-shirts and candy dispensers, which reflect the commercialization of faith.
