Abstract

The program discusses the creation and development of the Disability and Public Policy Unit in the department of Guainía, specifically in the municipality of Inírida. It highlights the efforts made to identify and support people with disabilities, ensuring their full inclusion and preventing any form of exclusion within the community. During the interview, the discussion focuses on Decree 1317 of 2017 and Law 1145 of 2007, key regulations in Colombia that promote the rights and well-being of people with disabilities. Law 1145 of 2007 establishes the National Disability System, a comprehensive framework that encourages their participation in society through policies in education, healthcare, employment, and accessibility. Meanwhile, Decree 1317 of 2017 reinforces these provisions by regulating the implementation of accessible spaces adapted for this population. As part of these initiatives, the remodeling of the Disability Unit in La Palomera, in the municipality of Inírida, is highlighted. This project aims to eliminate architectural barriers and ensure accessibility, promoting mobility and full participation for people with disabilities in the community.
