Abstract

In this edition of Voices and Regions, we explore the importance of safe spaces for coexistence, understood as environments where respect, inclusion, and free expression are fundamental principles. Through diverse perspectives, we analyze how these spaces enhance collective well-being and promote interactions free from violence and discrimination. Safe spaces play a crucial role in various contexts, from family and community settings to educational and workplace environments. Their existence fosters open dialogue, peaceful conflict resolution, and the strengthening of relationships based on empathy and mutual respect. To establish and sustain them, it is essential to promote values such as tolerance, equity, and cooperation. Additionally, we highlight the impact of public policies and social programs in creating and maintaining these spaces. Initiatives aimed at preventing violence, encouraging civic participation, and ensuring fundamental rights contribute to their development. Education, access to information, and the establishment of coexistence norms remain essential pillars for building a more just and harmonious society.
