La confluencia entre cuerpo, violencia y sociedad pone de manifiesto un vínculo entre lo profano y lo sagrado en los rituales de la muerte. Atendiendo a estas coordenadas, este texto da algunas pinceladas para comprender las formas de violencia humana en las que el cuerpo-víctima es el escenario de la barbarie, lo macabro y lo desmedido, expresado en un proyecto tanatobiopolítico contemporáneo ligado a la tortura, la vejación y el odio ejercidos en los cuerpos. Estéticas de la crueldad y la muerte puestas de manifiesto en la historia de las formas de violencia en la sociedad latinoamericana.
