Resumen
In Colombia the most used method in the design of flexible pavement structures is the AASHTO method (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, 1993), but the use of this design method generates certain uncertainties in the dimensions of the pavement structure, since it was formulated in the United States of America (USA), a territory with characteristics of soil, climate, geology, materials and traffic conditions, totally different from those of Colombia. For this reason, it is intended to make a sensitivity analysis of the design variables, by means of simulations, in such a way that it is possible to evaluate the multiple thicknesses of asphalt layer that are obtained, when different selection criteria are used and the impact that is generated at a technical and economic level.
