In the Office of the Ministry, and at the invitation of the Minister, met on this date, at 9 a.m., Mr. Mariano Tanco, Mr. Miguel Samper, Mr. Juan de las C. Santamaría, Mr. Aurelio Nieto, Mr. Francisco Vargas, Mr. Julio D. Mallarino, Mr. Dionisio Mejía and Mr. Eladio Gran, Managers respectively, of the Banks of Colombia and Bogotá. Mr. The Minister thanked those present for the courteous correspondence to the invitation that had been allowed to make them to deal with some matters of public interest, related to the interests of commerce and monetary circulation. He said that they were already aware of the project presented to Congress by the government on the delicate issue of monetary circulation, a project that is founded on the purpose of accumulating, in the coffers of the National Bank, in metallic currency the product of the income that the Congress establishes to attend to the exchange of paper - money and to the reorganization of the Bank; that, as should be supposed, this is not the only important business of the administration in tax matters; that the Government also wishes to attend to the service of internal and external public credit and to vigorously promote some material improvements of the first importance for the wealth of the country; and, of course, attend to the immediate payment of your due debt.
