Resumen
This internship was carried out at PROSEAR LTDA, a company based in Bogotá dedicated to lease insurance. Within this context, the need to strengthen the organization’s technological infrastructure became evident in order to ensure a safer, more efficient, and scalable network environment. The experience was framed within a continuous improvement process in information management, responding to the operational and security challenges currently faced by companies in the financial sector. During the initial assessment, several deficiencies in access management within the internal network were identified, such as indiscriminate access to shared resources by all users, without clear distinctions by roles or departments. This situation generated significant risks regarding the exposure of sensitive information and negatively affected network performance due to data traffic congestion and the absence of a logical architecture that would enable scalability. In an environment where data protection is a top priority, these shortcomings represented a serious threat to the company’s operational reliability. The proposed solution consisted of the design and implementation of a segmented network using VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks) as a mechanism to establish logical boundaries between the company’s functional areas. Through this segmentation, it was possible to enforce stricter and more specific access policies, optimize network resource management, and significantly enhance overall system performance. The implementation was carried out in a structured manner, following a progressive approach tailored to the organization’s real needs. As a result, greater efficiency in traffic distribution was achieved, critical information exposure was reduced, and the security posture of PROSEAR LTDA was strengthened. Network segmentation also laid the foundation for future processes of technological integration and digitalization, aligned with the company’s growth and digital transformation objectives. In conclusion, this project not only addressed a concrete need but also represented a strategic advancement in the management of secure networks within the insurance sector.
