Resumen
The Covid-19 pandemic has significantly impacted all of humanity, especially older adults who are the most likely to suffer serious symptoms or even death if they are infected with the new disease. For this reason, governments have made the decision to decree preventive physical distancing, forcing people to stay in their homes and avoid contact with others, seeking to slow down the spread of the virus. This has resulted in a high increase in mental health disorders and sedentary lifestyles. For this reason, the investigation was formulated on the Impact of the virtual program of Physical Activity UDAD on the mental health of 16 older adults in a condition of preventive physical distancing, in which it was sought to know the relationship between Physical Activity and the mental health of older adults through the application of a Pre-Test, in which variables such as depression, anxiety, stress and self-esteem were evaluated, the consequent participation in 12 sessions of the virtual program and the subsequent application of a Post-Test that evaluated the same variables. The results showed that prior to participating in the virtual program, the 16 older adults did not show high levels in any of the disorders evaluated. However, after participating in the virtual program, a positive change was found in all variables, especially in self-esteem. Thus, an innovative research in the field of physical activity and mental health of the elderly in the context of a pandemic without historical precedent.
