Resumen
The project is a visual and autobiographical proposal that emerges from domestic actions learned within her family environment, particularly from her mother and grandmother—such as starching, ironing, and embroidering. These everyday activities, often perceived as mundane or insignificant, are reinterpreted as artistic tools to explore memory, family bonds, and identity. The artist seeks to give new meaning to domestic practices, portraying them as emotional and communicative acts that reflect care, dedication, and connection.
The project takes shape through an installation composed of starched fabric books, iron marks, embroidery, and household objects like threads, buttons, and sewing hoops. Through these materials, Rodríguez reflects on the home as a space of refuge and resilience, and on the feminine role in preserving and transmitting often-invisible knowledge. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Doris Salcedo, Naoko Yoshimoto, and Maria Lai, the work transforms repetitive gestures and domestic items into powerful symbols of history, memory, and personal experience.
