Resumen
In this episode of Voices and Regions, Lever Palacios Hinestroza, representative of the Hijas de Yemaya organization from the Department of Chocó, shares the history and objectives of the organization, created in 2001 to support women displaced by violence. The organization seeks to improve the living conditions of these women through productive projects such as vegetable gardens and typical crops of Chocó. Lever describes the life stories of displaced people, many of whom come from Alto Baudó and have settled in Quibdó, where they face economic and social difficulties. Additionally, it highlights the importance of involving young people in solving community problems, highlighting environmental challenges in the region, such as deforestation and illegal mining. The organization also seeks to empower women and encourage active participation in the community.
