Abstract

The "Leaders in Participation, Strengthening the Regions" program explores the fundamental role of young people in Afro-descendant communities, particularly in the municipalities of Mateo, Bolívar and San Basilio de Palenque. The host, Ileana Alfaro, highlights the importance of cultural and citizen participation processes as a means to strengthen identity and community. Through music, storytelling and other elements of Afro culture, young people can find spaces to express their values and traditions, distancing them from social problems such as drug addiction and violence. In addition, the program addresses the active participation of young people in local politics, the rescue of ancestral customs and the need to generate greater cultural and social empowerment for the Afro community.
