Resumen
The image contains news about the organ commissioned by Archbishop Velasco for the Cathedral of Bogotá, which has been received and successfully assembled by the Venerable Metropolitan Chapter since the 10th of this month. Coming from the prestigious Spanish factory of D. Aquilino Amezia, this great instrument is considered a marvel of its kind. Despite having smaller dimensions than the organ exhibited at the Barcelona Universal Exhibition, it is superior in quality and presents improvements, such as the recently invented bombards.
The assembly and delivery work was carried out by the skilled Spanish builder and mechanic Mr. Pedro Pablo Roqués, who managed to carry out the task with skill and dedication despite the difficult conditions in which many of the pieces arrived. Roqués literally rebuilt the organ in Bogotá, based on the damaged fragments that reached the city due to the poor conditions of the roads.
The result is an organ that has impressed due to its mechanical part and the sweetness of its voices. This instrument has three hand keyboards, each with fifty-six notes. The installation has been completed, and the device is described in detail, highlighting the skill and perfection with which Roqués carried out this complex task. News published by the newspaper El Correo Nacional, No. 521, 06/24/92.
