Abstract

In this edition of Voces y Regiones, the focus is on the National Games held in the departments of Tolima and Chocó, highlighting their origins, the adaptation of sports venues, and the design of competitions in various disciplines. The discussion also covers the investment made for the event and the participation of athletes who took on the challenge, emphasizing the impact on sports development and infrastructure in both regions. Colombia’s National Games, established in 1928, are the country’s most important sporting event, bringing together the best athletes from each department to compete in multiple disciplines. Beyond promoting high-performance sports, the games drive the development of sports infrastructure and foster local talent. In the case of Tolima and Chocó, hosting the event provided an opportunity to modernize facilities, strengthen regional sports, and generate economic benefits for the local communities.
