Resumen
This research seeks to facilitate the integration between the 3D architectural models generated by BIM (Building Information Modeling) and geographic information systems by proposing a process, a model and a library that allows the production of CityGML (City Geography Markup Language) based on the IFC standard (Industry Foundation Classes) which has contemplated aspects as walls, doors, windows and even costs and other buildings components. Geographic information Systems (GIS) domain has developed a specification that facilitates interoperability, this is called Geography Markup Language (GML) which allows representation of geographic entities of real world such as rivers, parcels and others. A representation of virtual 3D city models called CityGML was developed based on GML, CityGML allows representing 5 different levels of detail entities that normally occur in an urban landscape, and buildings specially. A 3D model of the Francisco José de Caldas University was taken as application case, such model was created with architectural design tools that allows to be exported to the IFC standard, which later was taken as input for the generation of corresponding CityGML. A second IFC two-story house model was used for verification.
