Resumen
This research addresses the issue of underutilization of structural parks in Bogotá, spaces designed to promote citizen well-being, social cohesion, and sustainable development. Despite their potential, many of these parks do not fully fulfill their function due to multiple factors, including socioeconomic barriers, infrastructure deficiencies, limited accessibility, and low community ownership. Inequalities in the distribution and use of these spaces are identified, especially in middle-class sectors such as the El Jazmín and Ciudad Montes neighborhoods, where access is limited and institutional provision is insufficient. This situation not only reduces recreational, cultural, and educational opportunities, but also encourages the development of inappropriate and problematic uses of the parks. The study highlights the need for a multidisciplinary analysis to understand the causes of this underutilization and propose comprehensive strategies to improve access, use, and enjoyment of these public spaces, based on the real needs of local communities.
