Resumen
The image contains news about Ordinance 15 of January 3, 1856, which establishes provisions on primary education in the province of Bogotá. The free primary education for children of both sexes in parochial schools, financed by parochial revenues, stands out. Instruction is divided into elementary and upper primary, covering subjects such as reading, writing, arithmetic and Catholic religion, the latter optional for non-Catholic children. Upper primary instruction includes elements of geometry, geography and drawing, with additional subjects for girls such as sewing and embroidery. The role of the parish priest in the provision of religious instruction is established and the Governor is designated as General Director of primary instruction. Provisions on examinations, prizes for outstanding students and the financial support of primary schools are also detailed. News published in El Repertorio, January 12, 1856.
