Resumen
In this edition of Voces y Regiones, The Childhood and Adolescence Policy in the Department of Tolima aims to ensure the protection, well-being, and comprehensive development of children and adolescents, recognizing them as subjects of rights. This policy aligns with national legislation, particularly Law 1098 of 2006 (Childhood and Adolescence Code), which establishes the responsibilities of the State, family, and society in their care and upbringing.
In Tolima, various strategies have been implemented to strengthen access to education, healthcare, nutrition, participation, and protection against vulnerabilities such as violence, child labor, and school dropout. Additionally, efforts are being made to create safe spaces and prevention programs that foster skill development and opportunities for youth.
Local institutions, such as the Government of Tolima, the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF), and municipal administrations, play a crucial role in ensuring the implementation of this policy, providing support and resources to at-risk communities. However, challenges remain in the effective implementation and equitable access to these programs, particularly in rural and marginalized areas.
