Sistema de trazabilidad para la calidad de procesos en centrales de esterilización “Caso de estudio”

Abstract

This work developed a traceability system for the control and compliance with quality standards in sterilization processes in a hospital center. By systematizing the process, it was possible to improve practices in sterilization centers and mitigate the risk of errors in sterilization processes, which benefits safety and reliability. The results of the field work, validated and verified through the development and application of the traceable system, identified key factors that influence the quality of the sterilization processes. Errors in cycle selection and package storage time were significantly reduced, reducing identified problems by 40%. Additionally, quality and confidence in the process was improved, reducing the risks of infection in patients, especially in resource-limited settings where bioindicators are not used in all processes.
