Resumen
The book is presented as a fundamental object for storing and transmitting knowledge throughout history. In ancient Egypt, papyri, made from an aquatic plant, were used as a writing medium, with texts written in columns in hieroglyphics or demotic script. The evolution of writing includes the invention of tools like reeds for more precise writing and the use of ink. The custom of burying sacred texts with the deceased has allowed for the preservation of important documents, such as the "Book of the Dead". In other cultures, such as Chinese and Mesopotamian, the use of materials like bones, shells, and clay tablets for writing also highlights the diversity of tools and media used. The Sumerians, pioneers of cuneiform writing, and the Semitic peoples played a crucial role in the development of the first forms of literature and archiving, laying the foundation for the preservation of knowledge in later civilizations.
