The image contains news about the low electoral participation in Bogotá during the vote for Supreme Court Magistrates; Despite having around 60,000 inhabitants, only between 8,000 and 14,000 voters are registered. The interest and civic commitment of the population is questioned and the importance of citizen participation is highlighted to avoid corruption and injustice. Conservatives in Bogotá are criticized for not fulfilling their duties and not attending Council sessions, which negatively affects the Republic. It is highlighted that liberals look to the future and do not make excuses, while conservatives abandon their responsibilities. It is also mentioned that the majority of Bogotá juries are conservative and that on Sunday there was no quorum to function due to lack of attendance. News published in La Patria on August 13, 1857.
