La situación de Bogotá

Abstract

The image contains news about the situation in Bogotá and presents charges against it, it is mentioned that it is accused of being a city full of fanatics, with an abundance of convents, where colonial tradition persists and where religious threats continue to affect the consciences. It is also suggested that the absolutist party finds strong allies there. Despite recognizing these statements for the most part, the author is ready to give an explanation. It is argued that, due to the crucial role assigned to Bogotá during Spanish domination and the nature of the old political regime, the city was the center of gravity of New Granada, being the entire nation in political and social terms.
