Hilos de la naturaleza: Catálogo de especies productoras de fibras del Jardín Botánico José Celestino Mutis de Bogotá

Abstract

This document aims to create a digital catalog titled “Hilos de la Naturaleza,” in which 25 species of fiber-producing plants found within the Tropicario (Useful Plants) of the Jardín Botánico José Celestino Mutis Botanical Garden in Bogotá are classified. The research highlights the ecological and cultural significance of natural fibers, presenting them as a sustainable alternative to synthetic and single-use materials. Through fieldwork and a bibliographic review, morphological, taxonomic, and traditional usage data were collected for each species and their respective products. Finally, the project culminates in the development of a visually appealing and accessible catalog that seeks to promote knowledge, conservation, and the responsible use of these natural resources.
