Resumen
Interest in the study of the social construction of space in the social sciences began in the late seventies. For social scientists the importance of understanding the ways of appropriation of both physical and symbolic space and transformations of the material to the abstract becomes a theoretical necessity. With the globalization of culture and space it is not only physical but also becomes a symbolic space and can speak of a transformation of the environment that involves understanding the ways of appropriating space, recognize and characterize it. This research on the appropriation of space in the Emilio Urrea neighborhood park Casablanca Suba: an approach to the work of public and participatory work shows through action research as a graduate in the field of social sciences can evaluate participatory processes construction social space in non-formal spaces and shows some guidelines for conducting this exercise in community where the population was characterized by the participation of elderly and children.
