Resumen
In this section of the Voces y Regiones program, the governor of the Toribío reservation in Cauca is interviewed, sharing his views on the human rights situation in Colombia and highlighting the impact of the armed conflict on his community. He addresses the need for the demilitarization of the territory as a means to reduce violence and promote local development. The governor also denounces the forced recruitment of young people by guerrilla groups, which has hindered the progress of the Indigenous community. Additionally, he discusses the dialogues held with the government of Álvaro Uribe Vélez and his Minister of Defense, Juan Manuel Santos, in search of common agreements to address the conflict. Finally, he emphasizes the importance of ensuring that these agreements are upheld through legal mechanisms and criticizes the use of state resources to sustain the war instead of allocating them to social welfare and development.
