Resumen
The creation of safe environments in public spaces is essential to ensure quality of life in cities. These spaces allow for social interaction, recreation, and access to nature, fostering sustainable and healthy communities. Safety in these environments is linked to adequate infrastructure, lighting, accessibility, and the perception of well-being among citizens.
In the case of the Bogotá River, its recovery and preservation are crucial not only for its ecological value but also because it represents a key element of public space. A clean and well-maintained river promotes recreational, educational, and cultural activities while also serving as a habitat for various species.
Contact with nature in urban settings contributes to people's physical and mental well-being. Natural ecosystems within cities help mitigate climate change, reduce pollution, and improve air quality.
Therefore, environmental care must be a priority in urban planning. Actions such as proper waste management, the protection of water sources like the Bogotá River, the promotion of sustainable transportation, and environmental education are essential to ensuring harmonious and responsible urban development.
