Resumen
The image contains news about Mr. Pedro Carvajal who has informed his compatriots about the result of his claim to the British government due to the damage caused by a fire that started in the British resident's house in Bogotá due to carelessness guilty and which resulted in the destruction of his own home last year. It is surprising that this is the first time that a citizen of New Granada has presented a claim of this type supported by solid documents and that it has been ignored by the British government. In similar situations, governments often act quickly to repair damage caused by their residents in order to maintain the immunity granted to diplomats under international law. In this case, the claim was supported by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of New Granada, but was still ignored. This is in contrast to the way the British government responds to the claims of its citizens in New Granada by ensuring that they are resolved in a fair and timely manner. The negligence on the part of the British agent's household and his persistence are evidenced by a subsequent fire at Mr. Herran's residence. This serves as a warning to the people and legislators about the importance of properly addressing these issues. News published by the newspaper The Empire of Principles, May 14, 1836.
