Abstract
This research was concerned with studying the relationship between culture and coexistence in reference to the formulation and implementation of public policies for peacebuilding in local settings. From an alternative reading of the culture from the anthropological approach of Clifford Geertz and Kevin Avruch, the context of the Potrero Grande neighborhood in the Agua Blanca District, Santiago de Cali (Colombia) was studied, trying to elaborate an interdisciplinary explanation on the conflicts and forms to build peace.
It was also proposed to change the notion of culture, abandoning its accessory use in peace studies, and presenting it as a valuable resource in the analysis and formulation of public policies of coexistence, reconciliation and peace in local settings. In this effort, different approaches to peacebuilding and notions of different disciplines were used in the interest of developing public policy recommendations that contribute to expanding the current debate on post-conflict and reconciliation.
