Abstract
This research work is the result of the interest in the appropriation of language in childhood.
It takes up the question about metaphorical constructions of boys and girls between the ages
of five and six in school through the use of literature as a way of generating experiences. In
this sense, the research allows us to answer the question: ¿What metaphors do students of 5
and 6 build through the use of children’s literature at the Andrés Escobar School? This
qualitative study is framed by the ethnographic method and the naturalistic approach. They
are presented as the main categories of analysis we have: childhood, language, child speech,8
children’s literature and metaphor; the data were obtained through workshops and field diary
using participant observation as a technique.
