dc.description.abstractResearch is one of the main objectives of education and through it new pedagogical strategies can be proposed in order to improve all teaching and learning processes. As a result, society can be transformed and at the same time the quality of living of those who are part of it. My goal is to do a qualitative, descriptive and interpretative study about the implementation of Decree 230 which the Colombian government introduced and its effects on the educational system. Chapter 2, in particular, drew my attention, because it regulates the process for students evaluation and grade promotion. This Decree was put in force in February, 2002. The educational community overall including parents, students, and teachers has seen the impact on the academic level, evaluation and grade promotion process and have expressed a need for change. Because of their direct, personal experience with the effects of the Decree, the three groups just mentioned were the ones I chose for this study. In addition, the three belong to a public school in Bogotá where the study was done. I have been aware of the controversy surrounding Decree 230 since the very moment it was put into practice from my own personal experience and conversations with other teachers. In these conversations teachers complained about the policy and the effects it had on the field of education. Thus a personal interest led me to study this branch more deeply.spa
