The work presented here is a tribute to the Colombian composer and clarinetist Mauricio Murcia Bedoya and, at once, this work is consolidated as a means for bass clarinet exaltation as an instrument endowed with infinite possibilities. In the first section of the work, the figure of Mauricio Murcia is presented from different perspectives, with different contributions to the musical development in Colombia and around the world. In this section, we discuss the full composer’s work and the relation between the creative process and Mauricio Murcia's personal life. In the second part of the document, there is a detailed bass clarinet’s historical recount. There are mentions of the main exponents of the instrument. At the same time, are presented some of the Colombian composers who have written for the bass clarinet, and the Mauricio Murcia’s role in this context. This work ends with a guideline’s series for the interpretation of Mauricio Murcia’s Diez Estudios para Clarinete Bajo.
