This paper investigates the relationship between musical skills and the acquisition of prosodic awareness in second language learning. The paper begins with a literature review highlighting the role of music in language acquisition and the potential benefits of music training for language learning. This is followed by an exploratory study composed of two groups of participants: one group with native English speakers learning Spanish, and another group with native Spanish speakers learning English. The study explores the possible influence of musical skills on the acquisition of prosodic awareness, as well as how native speakers of different languages approach a secondary language. Finally, based on the results obtained in the study, a reflection is made on the possible positive impact of musical aptitude on the acquisition of prosodic awareness and proficiency in a second language. The results suggest a promising direction for future research on the relationship between musical skills and language learning. Key
